Nanaimo Yacht Charters and Sailing School

Visit Website.  Dreams can come true- just make the one call. Whether you are individual wanting to learn to sail, improve your sailing techniques or learn to sail with friends, family or like-minded women we have the cruise and learn

program for you.

Our students say it all as you read some segments from our Testimonial page:

The boats are superb for the training, and all communications are prompt and professional. Your long-term instructors have been top-notch.

"We jumped right into learning the instructor guided us through our paces, never getting excited even if we did once or twice. Best of all he (the instructor) was absolutely great with our kids. He would get them involved in the sailing as much as they desired and kept them occupied with other games and things when they didn’t. It wasn’t long before he was part of the family.

"The whole experience has been a life-changing one for me and has reignited my passion for sailing. Thank you all for contributing to a significant moment in my life.”

SeaRoom Yachting Services

Visit Website

SeaRoom Yachting is a registered, Canadian Recreational Yachting Association, (CRYA), yacht training school offering standard and customized sailing and Power cruising programs to students seeking from basic to more advanced navigation and sail and power training in coastal and offshore cruising. It is well suited to both beginners as well as to more advanced students with some degree of local or coastal cruising experience who wish to formally develop and advance their sailing knowledge and skills through more challenging coastal and offshore cruising.

All our training is based upon the highly regarded CRYA sail and power teaching program. Upon completion of each module, including coastal navigation, students can earn CRYA certification as Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Advanced Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore. Certification to Yachtmaster Ocean (sail) may be a future option for some students. During more advanced cruises we like to augment and complement the CRYA modules with training/education in offshore preparation, teamwork, leadership, vessel and risk management, provisioning, communications, tropical/heavy weather, safety, customs and immigration and other issues regularly encountered by offshore coastal cruisers.

Sail training for select students may be conducted on SV Kuyima, which is a fully outfitted, Canadian flagged, bluewater cruising vessel. Built by Waterline Yachts of Sidney BC and launched in 1998, she is a 47 foot, all steel, cutter rigged sailing vessel. With a beam of 14 feet she is spacious and well equipped. She has two radars, HF radio, VHF, AIS, autopilot, 75Hp Yanmar, a Viking Liferaft, an entertainment system, two fridges and all related safety, navigation and sailing gear. In 2011 Kuyima departed BC for Mexico and Central America. In 2016 she transited the Panama Canal. She is currently in Key West and cruising plans over the next two years include Cuba, Florida, the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean.

Captain Stephen Nash is Master of S/V Kuyima. A former naval officer, he is an advanced power and sail instructor with CRYAssociation (CRYA) and International Yacht Training (IYT-which certifies the ICC) and he is a member of Bluewater Cruising Association. He is a Director of CRYAssociation.

Steve and his wife, Tricia, split their time between Kuyima and Vancouver. In the summer they live, teach and sail in BC and in the winter they live, teach and sail aboard Kuyima in tropical and semi tropical waters.
